Newline Care Home - Your next step

Making the decision and arranging for a loved one to go into Care Home can be a very difficult, overwhelming and confusing process. Often it is not pre planned, it has arisen due a fall, illness, sudden deterioration or a death of a carer. Time is of the essence at that point and looking back people often wish they'd had longer to look around. So if you think you or a relative might need care in the future, it's a good idea to do some planning now, so that you'll know what to do should the need arise. We are here to help you every step of the way.

The first step is finding the right Care Home for you. Speak to friends, relatives, your GP or your local social services, get there advice and recommendations. There are other charities and organisations detailed in our links section on this website that can help you find a suitable Care Home.

There are many things to consider when looking for care home for you or a loved one but most importantly it should feel like home and you should feel they will take care of you or your loved one as if you were their own family.

Here are some key questions to ask of any Care Home:

  • Does the home meet your care requirements?
  • Is the care homes location convenient for visitors and easily accessible?
  • Does the home have a nice feel and ambiance about it?
  • Is the home nicely decorated, furnished and well maintained?
  • Does the home have all the facilities and equipment required to meet your needs?
  • Are the staff friendly, welcoming and helpful?
  • Do they provide fresh home cooked meals tailored to your nutritional requirements?
  • Are refreshments and snacks available at any time?
  • Does the home arrange regular activities, entertainment and outings?
  • Do the residents appear happy and content?
  • Does the home demonstrate that they offer high quality care tailored to your personal needs?

We encourage all new potential residents and family members to visit the home as often as they like to ensure that home feels right for them. So if you wish to visit the home or would like some help and advice please to not hesitate to contact us.
